1)Finish three novels – Just nope. 2)Write and submit 12 short stories – I wrote and submitted six. I’ve gotten some back, edited them, and then submitted them to different markets. Working through the editing process was extremely helpful, so I’m going to still consider this a success! (Though if this happens again I might consider redefining the goal midway through the year.) 3)Edit a novel and send out to publishers – Got distracted by necessary writer growth. I’m sure that my eventual first novel will be better for it. (Another goal that probably should have been reconsidered by midyear.) 4)Season 10 of writing excuses – I did the homework for the first 10-15 classes and found that it wasn’t helping me as I was hoping so I dropped the goal. I will call this a success, and even a bigger success because I realized that the goal wasn’t working for me and did rework it midyear! 5)Participate in all NNWM events – Done. Participating was a ton of fun, even if I was less productive than I would have liked on the writing front. I’ll consider this a general success, though with higher hopes for the future. 6)Critique Group – This has been such a help. Getting other people’s view points on my work is great. The fact that they are also writers means that they often reference new and useful writing resources which help expand my craft. Colossal success with the hope of more consistent submissions in the upcoming year. 7)Author visibility – Complete success. Created a personal website, FB author page, and Instagram. Now the goal is to keep them updated! 8) Watching all Brandon Sanderson classes - Exceptional success. Watched each class as it came out and took notes and learned a ton of useful writing tools. This is by far my top writing resource of the year! How did your goals go?
